“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations…” (Matthew 28:19–20)
Fulfilling the Great Commission has always been at the heart of Wesley Methodist Church. And because you give, we are able to go.
Across the region, God has been writing stories of ordinary people who step out in obedience, and through a church that faithfully sends them. In 2025 alone, Wesley commissioned 45 mission teams comprising 307 members to serve in various fields. This year, another five teams have already been sent out, with more planned in the months ahead. In addition, we also support eight missionaries and nine missioners.
These are not merely numbers, but stories in motion – each trip a step of faith, each journey an opportunity for God to work.
One such story began over twenty years ago in Nong Bua Lamphu (NBLP), Thailand, where Wesley Methodist Church planted a church. Many who travelled there in those early days remember a little girl named Jansuda Kluay, running freely through the halls of the church – full of life, watching, learning, growing.
Today, that same girl has grown up. She is now married, became a mother and serves as the Pastor-in-Charge (PIC) of that very church.
Ps Kluay’s story is not just a personal journey – it is a testimony of God’s faithfulness over time.
Those who have journeyed alongside her have witnessed this transformation first-hand. Lay Leader Alvin Chia recalls how the church walked with her from her teenage years – supporting her through school, through seminary and celebrating milestones along the way.
Former LCEC Chairperson Philip Oh reflects that back in August 2004, when he visited NBLP as a member of a recce team and met a skinny, tanned and smiley little girl – he never imagined that she would one day become the PIC of the church! What started as a simple act of obedience – planting a church – has borne fruit in ways no one could have fully imagined. He now realises that God was at work!
This is what it looks like when faith is lived out over generations.
And this is what your giving makes possible.
Beyond Thailand, God continues to work across many other nations. In Cambodia, Timor Leste, the Philippines, and other mission fields, your giving has enabled teams to serve the least, the last and the lost – through ministry, outreach and crisis relief.
At times, these journeys are marked not only by service, but by moments that remind us of God’s presence in deeply personal ways.
During a medical mission trip to Siem Reap, Cambodia, in June 2025, the team arrived in the midst of the rainy season. Yet for the three days of their clinic, the rain held back – falling only before and after. What’s more, after completing all the clinics, a double rainbow appeared – a beautiful reminder of God’s promises.
In Timor Leste in September that same year, another team encountered the opposite: a season of dry spell and intense heat. As they gathered to pray, the skies opened and rain fell upon the dry ground. A rainbow followed – vivid, unmistakable.
Three months later in December 2025, a third team in Luzon, Philippines witnessed a similar sight – a rainbow stretching across the sky after their time of ministry.
Three different countries. Three different teams. Three different moments in time.
And yet, one consistent reminder: God is with us!
A fourth team was in NBLP, Thailand, from 22-24 August 2025 to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the church we planted. They did not see a rainbow while they were there but on 25 August, the day after their return to Singapore, they were greeted with a “rainbow” (sun halo) in a complete circle – a powerful reminder that God will bring to completion what He has started through us.
For those who were there, these were not coincidences but markers of God’s faithfulness – assurances that He walks with His people as they go, and that He is at work in ways both seen and unseen.
What begins as a mission trip can become something far greater. A life is touched. A faith takes root. A leader is raised. A community is transformed. And sometimes, as in Kluay’s story, a generation is changed.
This is the multiplication of God’s work – where what is given in faith today becomes a legacy for tomorrow.
And all of this begins with a simple but powerful partnership.
Through your giving, the church is able to send. Through your giving, seeds are sown. Through your giving, lives are changed in ways that continue far beyond what we can see today.
Every trip sent, every life touched, every story unfolding – this is what your giving makes possible.
As we reflect on Pledge Weekend, we invite you to prayerfully consider your part in fulfilling the Great Commission through your generous giving as we continue to steward our limited resources to reach the nations. Not only in sustaining what God is doing now, but in enabling what He will do in the years to come.
Because when you give, we go.
And when we go, God transforms lives, communities and generations.
