Across our city, many struggles remain unseen.
An elderly person lives alone, navigating each day in quiet isolation.
A family faces financial pressure but carries it silently.
A youth searches for belonging, unsure where to turn.
These are not distant realities.
From 5 Fort Canning to Jalan Besar, to Eunos and beyond, they are part of the community God has placed around us.
Because you give, Wesley is able to be present – again and again – in these spaces where care is most needed.
WALKING ALONGSIDE, WEEK BY WEEK
Care often begins in quiet, unseen moments.
Every week, pastors and pastoral care staff step into hospitals, homes and moments of grief – walking with individuals and families through some of life’s most difficult seasons.
IN FY2024/25 ALONE:
- 540 hospital visits ministered to 337 individuals
- 34 homebound members were regularly cared for
- 57 wakes and 65 funerals were conducted
- 13 ash scattering services brought closure and comfort
Over the same year, we also received 385 new cases for counselling, in addition to 22 cases carried over from previous years.
Each visit, each session is more than a task.
It is a reminder: you are not alone.
Because you give, the church is able to show up faithfully – bringing presence, prayer and hope in life’s most vulnerable moments.
A COMMUNITY THAT SHOWS UP
Beyond pastoral care, Wesley’s outreach into the community has grown steadily over the years.
What began with the move of the Wesley Youth Centre from Ganges Avenue to Jalan Berseh in December 2007 opened doors to deeper engagement. In November 2010, the Wesley Senior Activity Centre (WSAC) was established in partnership with Methodist Welfare Services, creating a sustained presence among seniors in Jalan Berseh.
One highlight of our involvement in Jalan Berseh is the annual Christmas Carnival at Kelantan Court pavilion. The last one on 14 December 2025 was organised by COSC in collaboration with the Residents’ Network.
Today, that outreach has expanded further into Jalan Besar through Wesley@Besar, officially launched in February 2025. Here, ministry takes a simple but powerful form: showing up.
Volunteers enter homes not just to serve, but to clean, to deliver meals, and to build relationships. They sit. They listen. They pray. And they return – not once, but again and again.
Because love is not expressed in a single act, but in faithful presence over time.
TANGIBLE EXPRESSIONS OF CARE
Care takes many forms – often simple, yet deeply meaningful. Through home visits, befriending, home cleaning, block parties and financial assistance, tangible expressions of care are extended to those in need. These acts may seem ordinary, but to the ones receiving them, they carry extraordinary meaning. A clean home restores dignity. A conversation reminds someone they are not forgotten. A community gathering brings joy into spaces that once felt empty.
In one recent effort, 196 volunteers from 38 Small Groups cleaned 36 homes belonging to seniors living around North Bridge Road. Small Groups are invited to adopt the seniors for monthly befriending.
At outreach events like the Jalan Besar block party on 28 May 2025, around 118 seniors gathered – some arriving with walking aids or wheelchairs – welcomed into a space of joy, laughter and community.
As we reflect on how blessed we have been, may we be a blessing as we serve and give to Wesley’s work of care to the least, last and lost. May the Lord be magnified as we reach out as a caring church, for the glory of our compassionate Christ.
Through weekly engagements like The Saturday Club, youths who first come for activities often encounter something deeper – a sense of belonging, and sometimes faith itself.
And through consistent care, lives are being quietly transformed.
From Sunday meal deliveries alone, one individual was baptised, and another came to faith in Christ.
Because you give, ordinary acts of care become moments of dignity, connection and transformation.
EXTENDING CARE THROUGH PARTNERSHIP
Beyond what happens on the ground, Wesley’s outreach extends through support and partnerships with organisations such as MWS Wesley Active Ageing Centre, MWS Nursing Home – Eunos, St Luke’s Eldercare and Hospital and Chen Su Lan Methodist Children’s Home. Through these partnerships, the reach of care goes far beyond what any single ministry could accomplish alone.
And as we have been blessed, WMC has also blessed more than 60 organisations through our giving in the past one year. They include local and regional partners – ranging from social service agencies to mission organisations. Examples are Antioch21, Asia Evangelistic Fellowship, High Praise Church Philippines, Our Father’s World, Scripture Union, Singapore Centre for Global Missions, St John’s Home for Elderly Persons, The Bible Society of Singapore, The Salvation Army, The Turning Point, Thirst Collective Ltd, World Vision International and Youth with a Mission (YWAM).
A CHURCH THAT WALKS TOGETHER
This is what it means to be a caring church
Not defined by programmes, but by a promise. A promise to walk alongside others, especially in their moments of need. And this promise is sustained through something simple yet powerful: your giving.
Every visit made. Every burden shared. Every life reminded they are not alone.
This is what your giving makes possible.
As you prayerfully consider your pledge, remember: you are not merely supporting programmes. You are enabling a church that continues to show up with compassion and faithfulness.
