Guest speakers at Wesley’s Small Group Ministry Conference, Pastor Kirk Tan and Pastor Dr Stacey Tan, sat down with us to share about their ministries and their call to serve God in pastoral work. “The Strangely Warmed Retreat is a consecrated time that allows breakthroughs in the difficult or the seemingly mundane areas of our lives with God.” The planning committee and participants of the biannual church retreat reflect on their time at the first retreat this year. Wesleyans can look forward to the next church retreat this September.
How wonderful when families connect across the generations to impress God’s Word upon their children. (Deuteronomy 6:6-9) A newly-launched programme has the potential to further connect Wesley families in spiritual discipleship. Senior participants who become proficient can receive and transmit sermons or Bible Reading meditations, and share prayers and encouragement with their loved ones on digital devices.
Being a volunteer photographer at Wesley is more than just taking photos for events. The passionate community of volunteer photographers gathered for fellowship during a training session held by our very own Matthias Ho. As an intergenerational church at Wesley Methodist, Journey to the Cross (JTTC) has been a wonderful testament of God’s steadfast faithfulness for Wesley families through the generations – a fitting alignment to the church’s 2023 theme on FAMILY discipleship. With help from one another, all age groups could Journey to appreciate the significance of Good Friday.
The Wesley Methodist Church family had the joy of celebrating Easter together yet again. This year’s Easter Services were thronged by congregants from all generations. Everyone, whether younger or older, had a part to play in making this Easter celebration a resoundingly glorious intergenerational one.
1 Timothy 4:12 urges us not to let anyone “despise you for your youth, but set…an example”. This is exactly what Glenn Wong has been doing, ever since the tender age of eight. Follow him as he explains what God has been doing in his life, from joining the worship team at eight years old to now being a full-time staff at Wesley, 15 years later.
Wesley Prison Ministry, together with Prison Fellowship Singapore, was grateful to have been able to bless families of inmates, released persons and their families during “Come, Experience the love of Christ” at the Wesley Plaza Hall on 10 December 2022. This was the culmination of a year of ministering to the incarcerated at Changi Prison and the Halfway House, and their families and children.
