The Journey to the Cross 2025 is an immersive and reflective spiritual experience designed to guide participants through the significant moments of Jesus Christ’s journey to the cross. This self-guided journey includes four reflection and prayer stations, each representing a pivotal event in Jesus’ path to crucifixion. The event aims to deepen participants’ understanding of Jesus’ sacrifice and inspire personal reflection, repentance and recommitment to faith.
Station 1: Jesus at the Garden of Gethsemane
The journey begins at the Garden of Gethsemane, where Jesus experienced profound sorrow and prayed for God’s will to be done. Participants are encouraged to reflect on their own struggles and surrender to God’s will, just as Jesus did. The station includes Scripture readings and reflection points to help participants connect with Jesus’ agony and their own moments of despair and surrender.

Station 2: Jesus is Betrayed and Disowned
The second station focuses on Jesus’ betrayal by Judas and denial by Peter. Participants are invited to consider moments of betrayal and denial in their own lives and seek forgiveness and reconciliation. This station emphasises the themes of faithfulness and repentance, encouraging participants to reflect on their commitment to Jesus and their need for His grace.

Station 3: Jesus is Crucified
At the third station, participants witness the crucifixion of Jesus. This station uses audio and visual elements to recreate the scene, helping participants to grasp the depth of Jesus’ suffering and love. They are encouraged to kneel at the foot of the cross and reflect on the significance of Jesus’ sacrifice. The station prompts participants to consider the pain and humiliation Jesus endured and to respond with gratitude and a renewed commitment to follow Him.
Station 4: Jesus’ Seven Last Sayings
The final station highlights Jesus’ seven last sayings on the cross. Each saying is accompanied by reflection pointers, prompting participants to consider themes such as forgiveness, assurance, family, abandonment, thirst, completion, and surrender. This station encourages participants to meditate on the profound meaning of Jesus’ words and their relevance to their own lives.

The event is scheduled from 7 – 11 April 2025, with specific times set aside for seniors and those with mobility issues. No registration is required, but participants are asked to maintain silence and respect the reflective nature of the journey. The organisers have made provisions to ensure a safe and conducive environment for prayer and meditation, including brighter lighting and volunteer assistance for those who need it.
Journey to the Cross 2025 offers a unique opportunity for personal reflection and spiritual growth. By tracing the steps of Jesus’ journey to the cross, participants can gain a deeper appreciation of His sacrifice and the hope of resurrection. The experience is designed to be both contemplative and interactive, allowing participants to engage with the story of Jesus’ passion in a meaningful way.
Overall, this event provides a space for individuals to reflect on their faith, repent of their sins, and recommit to following Jesus. It serves as a powerful reminder of the love and grace of God, and the hope that comes from the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Through this journey, participants are encouraged to share the resurrection hope of Easter with others and to live out their faith with renewed dedication and purpose.

Journey to the Cross: Ruth Kwan’s Reflection on God’s Grace
At the Garden of Gethsemane, I saw a figure kneeling down. It was so realistic I thought it was somebody kneeling. I was so touched when I read that it was Christ kneeling, asking God to remove the cup. I wanted to kneel down with Christ.
In the morning during my quiet time, I had read Isaiah 46:3-4, “… you whom I have upheld since your birth, and have carried since you were born. Even to your old age and gray hairs I am he, I am he who will sustain you. I have made you and I will carry you; I will sustain you and I will rescue you.”
God has been with me age to age. I had reached my 89th birthday, I had suffered much from childhood till now, it’s really true that God upheld me.
When I walked to the next station, where they showed the crucifixion, I recalled the sharing that Rev Lim Jen Huat just did at Wesley Glowing Years Ministry Happy Hour that it is by God’s grace. Indeed, it is by His grace that God had saved me from my childhood till now I am 89, and I just wept because it touched me so deeply.
When I went to the sanctuary, I knelt and wept so much. An altar minister came to pray with me. I thank God for His grace and His shalom peace. I praise the Lord and give Him all the glory.
