An Evening of Musical Encounter with CEM

On 24 August 2023, Rev Adrian Ng and Local Church Executive Committee (LCEC) Chairperson Alvin Tay, opened the first-ever concert and jamming session at Wesley with a prayer.

Entitled ‘Come! Jam With Us Tonight’, this outreach initiative was organised by Creative Expression Ministry (CEM) and took place at Plaza Hall from 7.30 to 9pm.

The objective of this concert is twofold:

– to allow church members who are otherwise not active to be involved in church in a low stress and enjoyable manner; and

– to reach out to fellow small instrument enthusiasts all over Singapore, who may yet be unchurched

When over 90 people with guitars, ukuleles, cajons, djembes and drums come together, you can be sure a very special musical encounter arises.

The programme consisted of a welcome and prayer by Pastor Adrian and Alvin Tay, followed by music jamming and light refreshments and fellowship.

A joyful noise was made, and all participants extended warm welcomes and hospitality to our guests. We brought out more folding chairs as more people streamed in with their various musical instruments to join the jamming.

Our humble refreshments ran out quickly, but the conversations and interactions carried on. There was so much infectious laughter, and all the guests said they would be back for more!

We look forward to welcoming new guests to Wesley Methodist Church, through regular concert and jamming sessions.

Do join us!
