Campus Ministry Freshmen Connect

A total of 30 university freshmen, seniors and mentors attended Campus Ministry’s Freshmen Connect on 27 August 2022 at Pinhole Coffee Bar.

Thanking everyone for attending the event, Joyce Lo, Chairperson of Wesley Campus Ministry, opened the event by saying, “We hope everyone has a good time meeting peers and friends at this event. At the same time, we hope that this event answers some questions like, `What is God’s purpose for me during this new season of my life?’”

The Freshmen Connect was filled with food, laughter, community and bonding over God’s Word. After two years of virtual meetings, connecting in-person was refreshing and much-needed.

Joshua, one of the ministry members and the guest speaker at the event, drew on lessons from Romans 12 and his own experience, encouraging the freshmen to “behave in a manner that is holy and acceptable to God, letting their love be genuine. By becoming living sacrifices to God, we would then be more able to discern His will for us, knowing that it is what God deems as good for us.”

One of the attendees, Song Tao, said, “We are thankful for the practical sharing and how the sermon was given with the university context in mind. It was relatable and helpful.” Another attendee shared that she was happy to meet seniors and peers of the same church in-person, something that she might not have been able to do without this platform, and hoped that she could stay in touch with them.
