In loving memory of Keisia Sim, Alpha Host 2023-2024 (Alpha Participant 2000s)
In early 2023, I felt a nudge from the Lord to co-host Alpha with a friend. God then presented an opportunity to partner with Keisia Sim, a sister-in-Christ who was eager to serve despite her battle with cancer. While I initially had some reservations, I was deeply moved by Keisia’s unwavering spirit and desire to share God’s love. From that moment on, we began to journey together in faith and friendship through the Alpha ministry.
Keisia’s dedication was truly inspiring. She faithfully attended every session, her presence a testament to her commitment. Our connection deepened, and after our first successful Alpha run, we continued hosting together. My original co-host felt led to other areas of service, and I was blessed to walk alongside Keisia for three more Alpha courses. She became a cherished friend, a source of prayer and encouragement during my own challenging times. It was Keisia who gently nudged me to lead a small group for our Alpha graduates, a ministry that has become a profound blessing in my life.
During the final Alpha session we hosted together, we spoke of the future, and despite her doctor’s prognosis of three to six months, we decided to step out in faith and sign up for the next Alpha course, trusting in God’s perfect plan. Shortly after, Keisia peacefully entered the presence of our Lord, free from pain and suffering. While her passing was bittersweet, I found comfort in knowing she is now rejoicing in heaven.
It was a beautiful testament to Keisia’s impact that many of our Alpha guests attended her wake to pay their respects. One of the Alpha guests, Oliver Lim, who knew Keisia in 2023, said: “I was unaware of Keisia’s condition when we began Alpha, especially since we met over Zoom. When she shared her journey with diagnosis and treatment, I was deeply touched by her strength and courage. She truly exemplified a life lived for Christ, radiating the confidence that comes from knowing Him. May God bless her family with the peace that comes from knowing her faithful service and unwavering faith.”
Jonathan Chai, an Alpha guest in 2024, recalled Keisia was steadfast, a rock of faith. “She fought the good fight, ran the race with unwavering determination and kept her eyes fixed on Jesus until the very end. She faced overwhelming odds with incredible courage and inspired me deeply with her faith,” he said.
Keisia completed her race on 26 November 2024, at the age of 48. Keisia was a loving friend, a faithful sister in Christ and an inspiration to all who knew her. As I continue this Alpha run, Keisia’s example of steadfast service amidst adversity will forever be etched in my heart. We praise God for Keisia’s life and the countless blessings she poured into Alpha and the lives of our participants. Her testimony is a powerful witness to the love and grace of Christ, shining brightly even amid life’s most difficult circumstances.
