Over 150 people packed Wesley Hall for the Alpha Introduction Dinner on 17 January 2025, kicking off what promises to be a transformative journey for many. The evening started with an uplifting performance and singalong led by the Creative Expression Ministry. Guests were then introduced to the Alpha experience with the thought-provoking video, “Is There More to Life Than This?”

The highlight of the night was speaker Mariya Vynnytska’s powerful testimony. Sharing her experience of fleeing war-torn Ukraine, Mariya described how Alpha 2022 became a turning point in her life. “Being surrounded by Christians who love God,” Mariya shared, “Through their eyes and prayers, the Lord opened my eyes in a totally different way and healed my heart. I believe God can cry too and that when we are in pain, He feels our pain, He knows our pain and He is there with us holding our hand.” Mariya is currently also a co-host of Alpha.

Twelve enthusiastic host groups, including a youth-focused group meeting on Sundays, were on hand to answer questions and connect with potential participants. The youth group’s timing aligns perfectly with the newly launched 2025 Alpha Youth Film series.

By the end of the evening, 40 guests had already signed up for Alpha.
“We are thankful for God’s provision, especially for ensuring enough food for the unexpectedly large crowd,” said Patrick Chua, pastoral team member who oversees Witness and Evangelism (W&E). “We are also thankful for the dedicated hosts and volunteers who serve faithfully in this Alpha@Wesley run. We continue to pray for a continued abundant harvest of souls.”
Rev Adrian Ng, pastor for W&E, said: “I wish you don’t just ‘know about’ but you also get to ‘experience’ the transforming power of the Holy Spirit. When you do, everything changes, and God becomes real. If you struggle in your faith or have questions about God, join Alpha 2025 and get to know God! Bring a friend too!”
