Remember And Tell Of God’s Glorious Deeds

BRD REFLECTION 2026

Genesis 14 and Psalm 78:1-16 (NIV)

(Hoo Feng Wen from Small Group Ministry)

READ:

Psalm 78:1-16 (NIV)

OBSERVE:

The psalmist starts by saying “Give ear, O my people, to my teaching” in verse 1 to appeal to all to listen to him and for the listener to “tell (to) the coming generation the glorious deeds of the Lord” in verse 4. In verses 5 to 8, he mentions how God appointed the law for His people to follow. That they may teach their children to set their hope in God, keep His commandments and not be unfaithful. However, their fathers have forgotten God’s blessings and deliverance in Egypt and failed to keep His commandments as well in verses 9 to 16.

APPLY:

As I reflected, I realized how easily I forget God’s goodness – His wondrous deeds in the Bible and the blessings He has poured in my life. Often, I am distracted about my challenges and am filled with worry and anxiety. In my worse days, I forget what it means to be patient and loving to others and neglect living my life in worship of God. Like the Ephraimites or the Jews, I forget God’s blessings and fall into sin.

This passage helpfully reminds me to examine my life where God has blessed me. How He had brought me to Christ and the wonderful people He planted in my life that encouraged me and built me up. In times that I may stray from God, remembering His blessings brings about comfort and strength to be rooted in Him.

DO:

My resolution this year was to journal more often and reflect about different events that took place. This made it helpful to look back and give thanks to how God has been with me through these challenges and brought me through them. I would like to continue this habit that helped me to anchor my life – set my hope in God and be strengthened to grow in faith. And like what the psalmist said, to tell many of the glorious deeds of God that we can spur one another on to be faithful and Christ-like through our testimonies.

PRAY:

Dear God, You are a loving father and I marvel at Your almighty works since the start of time. Forgive me for the times that I have forgotten Your goodness and Your power. Please mould my heart towards repentance and remembrance of Your blessings that I may lead a life of faithfulness and worship. Amen.
