The Security Under The Lord’s Care

BRD REFLECTION 2026

2 Corinthians 12:11-21 and Psalm 37:14-19 (NIV)

(Tina Khoo,  Pastoral Team)

READ:

2 Corinthians 12:11-21 and Psalm 37:14-19 (NIV)

Highlights:

“We have been speaking in the sight of God as those in Christ; and everything we do, dear friends, is for your strengthening.” (2 Cor 12:19)

“The blameless spend their days under the Lord’s care, and their inheritance will endure forever.” (Psalm 37:18)

OBSERVE:

In 2 Corinthians, I find the Apostle Paul in a season of deep vulnerability. Though he poured his life into the Corinthian church, he feels a painful pressure to defend his ministry. Remarkably, his focus remains on the spiritual health of the people rather than his own reputation; he simply desires to see them move toward spiritual maturity.

Psalm 37 offers a divine perspective on life’s tensions. While others may “draw the sword” to bring others down, I’m reminded that God remains in total control. Those who walk with integrity, are under the Lord’s specific daily care. Whether facing interpersonal conflict or systemic threats, the common thread is a gentle reliance on God’s ultimate vindication rather than human approval.

APPLY:

It is easy to feel like Paul when I feel misunderstood or undervalued while serving others. There is a natural urge to defend my rights when slighted, but Paul’s heart reminds me that our primary goal is to build others up in Christ.

In my role at Wesley, I am grateful that my challenges usually involve navigating different views on ministry rather than true “wickedness”. I am reminded that God has gifted each of us differently. In every situation, I am called to shift my focus away from what others are doing and rest in the fact that my “inheritance” is secure in God. Rather than being stressed by differing opinions, I can choose humility—recognizing the unique gifts others offer and preserving unity. I don’t always have to be right; instead, I can lean into the wisdom of Philippians 2:3: “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves”.

DO:

I will identify an area where I have felt defensive and gently commit it to God. I will ask the Lord to mold me into an instrument of His peace, seeking the grace to listen first with an open heart to truly understand those around me. In moments of disagreement, I will look past the need to be “right” and instead seek the common ground that unites us.

PRAY:

Lord, thank You that my days are held safely under Your care. Forgive me for the times I try to protect my own honor instead of seeking Yours. Please help me to serve others with a pure heart and grant me the peace of knowing that You are my provider and my portion forever. Amen.
