Godly Jealousy
BRD REFLECTION 2026
2 Corinthians 11:1–15 and Psalm 36:5–12 (NIV)
(Rosalia Rivera Mahendran, Pastoral Team)
READ:
2 Corinthians 11:1–15 (NIV)
OBSERVE:
Paul speaks candidly to the Corinthian church, appealing to them to bear with his “foolishness” as he expresses his deep concern for their spiritual well-being. He openly declares his godly jealousy for them and likens their relationship to Christ to a pledged commitment that must remain pure. He then voices his fear that they are becoming vulnerable to deception, just as Eve was misled. Paul highlights how easily they tolerate teachings that distort the gospel. Finally, he affirms his genuine love for them and commits to countering the influence of false apostles who masquerade as servants of Christ.
APPLY:
I am prompted to reflect on how I care for fellow believers who may be drifting spiritually. Do I appeal to them out of genuine godly jealousy, or merely from a sense of obligation? Have I been honest about my concerns and clear about the potential dangers? I also wonder whether I have expressed my love for them in a way that is both sincere and constructive, and whether I have taken the necessary steps to support their spiritual stability.
DO:
I repent of the times I have failed to express godly concern or act decisively when believers around me faced spiritual risks. I ask God to reshape my heart, grant me a godly jealousy that leads others toward His will, and empower me to act in ways that bring Him glory and honour.
PRAY:
Lord Jesus, thank You for Your love and grace. Forgive me for my lack of godly jealousy. Help me love You with all my heart, mind, strength, and soul and to love others . Strengthen me to uphold Your truth and guide those around me. In Christ name.
Amen.
