Genesis 40:1-8 and Psalm 105:8-15 (NIV)

(Tony Tng D&N Ministry)

READ:

Genesis 40:1-8 (NIV)

OBSERVE:

Between being sold as a slave and ending up in Potiphar’s household, a good 10 years, Joseph waited – staying close to God, waiting for Him to make it right for him. God wasn’t far away from Joseph. On the contrary, God was likely using the ten years to train, mould, teach and prepare him with skills needed to be the second most powerful man in Egypt (Gen 41:43). God was waiting for the perfect moment to bring His plan to fruition and save the tribe of Jacob (Gen 50:20) Joseph knew that he had to wait patiently for just that perfect moment to happen. Joseph simply focused on that spiritual vision.

APPLY:

How often had I become impatient waiting for a prayer to be answered? Likely, too often. I recall many years ago when I was tasked to organise a meeting. A speaker was sought. Weeks passed,  and I became a little impatient as the speaker had gone silent. Instead of waiting, I emailed him to send his notes to us for printing. I’m not sure if that got on his nerves but he decided not to speak at our event. He clarified that it was not because of my email when I got in touch with him but cited another reason for turning down the invitation. I still wonder if the outcome could have been different had I not stepped in but waited on God’s perfect timing. I have since learned that while it is all right to be anxious about outcomes, I need to patiently wait upon the Lord for His perfect moment. God is weaving a tapestry that we cannot fully grasp.

DO:

I will lament, pray and patiently wait upon the Lord for His perfect moment.

PRAY:

Heavenly Father, the perfect God who always has that perfect moment. How often have I been impatient and taken things into my own hands? Help me to remember to wait patiently for You, trusting for that perfect moment to come. Help me to know that You are never far away; You know my struggle and will carry my burden on Your shoulder. I will rest in Your perfect love. In the mighty name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
