– Mission Possible

BRD REFLECTIONS:

2 Corinthians 2:12-17; 3  and  Psalm 150 (NIV)

(David Foo, Small Group Leader)

READ:

Whilst I read both 2 Corinthians 2:12-17, 3 and Psalm 150, the verses that caught my attention were:

  2 Corinthians 2:14-15

14 But thanks be to God, who always leads us as captives in Christ’s triumphal procession and uses us to spread the aroma of the knowledge of him everywhere. 15 For we are to God the pleasing aroma of Christ among those who are being saved and those who are perishing

2 Corinthians 3: 7 – 9

7 Now if the ministry that brought death, which was engraved in letters on stone, came with glory, so that the Israelites could not look steadily at the face of Moses because of its glory, transitory though it was, 8 will not the ministry of the Spirit be even more glorious? 9 If the ministry that brought condemnation was glorious, how much more glorious is the ministry that brings righteousness!

Psalm 150:6

6 Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. Praise the Lord.

OBSERVE:

Once we are born into the family of God, we carry in us the greatest gift and the best news of God’s salvation to mankind. In 2 Cor 2:4 we bear the pleasing AROMA of  Christ. Paul expresses gratitude towards God for using weak vessels like us to bear His good news.  Paul is also thankful that we are on the winning team. We are now part of a glorious ministry, a ministry established by Jesus that is of a greater glory compared to the older ministry of the Old Testament which highlights our sins and condemns us to death. Praise God ( Ps 150) let everything that has breath praise the Lord. Praise Him for His plans! Praise Him for including me in this glorious ministry!  I am humbled to be included in His glorious redemptive plan.

APPLY:

I thank God for including me in His redemptive plan for mankind. God in His mercy has given me free will to decide on the path to take. I choose to be the pleasing aroma of Christ, to work with God for His purposes. At the end of the day, I am accountable for how I use my gifts for His salvation work for those in my life.

DO:

Let me not ignore this great responsibility that God has entrusted to me. As I see the day of His return approaching, I see the urgency of the work that needs to be done. I must  continue to

  • Work on my testimony,  be an aroma of life as guided by the Holy Spirit.
  • Seek out those God puts in my life and live in a way that will point them to Christ.
  • Pray for divine appointments to impact one more for Christ.

PRAY:

Lord, I praise you for saving me at such a great cost. Thank you, for using a weak vessel like me in your glorious plan. Help me be mindful of my short stint here on earth. Help me focus on what is of eternal value and look forward to the day of eternal rest where we work no more. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.
