Strength From Afar
BRD REFLECTIONS
Genesis 46 & Psalm 46 (NIV)
(Belinda Foo, PTM, Prayer & Praise)
READ:
Genesis 46 & Psalm 46 (NIV)
OBSERVE:
The following verses in Psalm 48 caught my attention:
v2: ‘Therefore we will not fear …’
v7 & v11: ‘The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge.’
These verses emphasize the character of God as protector – our refuge and strength. He is with us in and through all things.
APPLY:
My recent heartfelt experience of fear occurred at the jetty at East Coast Beach. Looking towards the horizon in the night sky, I witnessed God’s majestic power in His varied displays of roaring thunder and lightning. Godly fear engulfed me as I stood rooted to the ground and beheld the majestic power of God. My heart thumped as I took in His glory. Though I feared, I felt assured in the ‘chaos’ because I know He is in control. The Creator God who put up this dazzling display of sight and sound will always be my refuge and strength!
I am reminded not to fear whatever comes my way because God has shown me His overwhelming power. His presence so far is yet so near.
DO:
There is a certain strength – and so a hope in (humanly) knowing the vast power of God. This allows me to ‘minimize’ my fears. I need not fear because God is omnipotent, omnipresent, and omniscient. He is in control and knows what He is doing.
PRAY:
Omniscient God, may you grant us more grace and mercy amid any chaos, and the knowledge that nothing in all creation can ever separate us from your love, refuge, and strength. Amen.
