LENT 2022 | GOOD FRIDAY
Matthew 27:33-56 (NIV)
(Henry Tan, Member, Pastor-Parish Relations Committee)
READ:
Matthew 27:33-56 (NIV)
OBSERVE:
During the pandemic over the past 2 years, many of us would have made this cry to God, “My God, My God why have you forsaken me?”
APPLY:
I have been thinking and reflecting on what has happened in the past 2 years and how I have grown stronger mentally and spiritually because of the challenges that I faced during times of anguish, worry and a time where God seemingly did not answer my prayers.
Our Lord Jesus, in His moment of anguish, cried out in a loud voice in the darkness, and after He cried out again in a loud voice, He gave up His Spirit. I believe that moment to be the moment when Jesus decided to accept the Will of His Father for His purpose on earth. And with His willingness to surrender to God, we are all saved and we are able to cry out to Him in our moments of anguish and hopelessness.
DO:
On this Good Friday, I will recall the times when I have cried out to Jesus and surrendered to His will for my life. I will also cry out to Him for the souls that have not yet been saved and pray for the willingness to share His death on the cross to others who have yet to know Him.
Eli, Eli, Lema Sabachthani.
PRAY:
Father Lord, help us to know that when you seem to have forsaken us, you have not and you are there waiting for us to surrender our life to your will. This Good Friday, may we once again be renewed as we once again surrender our will to you. May we be shown the way to people who also need to surrender their will to you, especially those who have yet to know you. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
