Witnessing The Divine Power Of Jesus

READ:
Matthew 8, focusing on verses 23-34 (NIV)
OBSERVE:
Jesus’ incredible and miraculous power over nature and evil forces is displayed in these verses. The disciples faced a huge storm at sea, were very frightened and woke Jesus from his sleep. Jesus rebuked his disciples for their lack of faith and immediately calmed the wind and waves and the storm stopped. The disciples were truly in awe of Jesus’ miraculous control of nature. The men were amazed and asked, “What kind of man is this? Even the winds and the waves obey him!” (v27).
Next, at Gadarenes, Jesus said the word “Go!”, and he chased the demons from two men into the pigs, thus healing the demon-possessed men. Thereafter, the whole town went out to meet Jesus, and asked Him to leave. Jesus demonstrated His Divine identity to the disciples and crowd. The disciples recognised Jesus’ mighty works as not just extraordinary or exceptional, but Divine.
APPLY:
Worship and awe of Jesus as my Divine Creator is the right and only response. Jesus is asking for my response to Him. “But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?” Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God” (Matthew 16:15-16).
As I marvel at Jesus’ amazing and magnificent power to overcome natural disasters and demons, I want to humble myself and obey my Mighty Saviour. Jesus’ Love for people is shown as he calms the storm for the disciples and heals the two men possessed by demons. Thus, I would like to obey a kind and loving Saviour who has a perfect and good plan for my life.
DO:
Every moment of the day and in every area of my life, I should sense His Divine Loving Presence and obey Him as He is the Mighty Creator of the Universe, the Overcomer, the Great Healer, and the Victorious Lord. I want to Praise Jesus for who He is, and worship Him in song and deeds. Jesus is Great and Worthy of My Praise. He is Love and He is Worthy. As the Holy Spirit prompts me and I read His Word daily, I will intentionally commit my life as a Disciple of Christ.
PRAY:
Dear Lord, I praise you because you are our Mighty Creator who rules over natural disasters and You help those in trouble. You are the Great Deliverer who chases away demons and commands victory in spiritual battles. I ask that you teach me to be humble, and to obey you in word and deed. Show me how to love others and to love you with All my Heart, Soul and Strength. Let me allow Your Power and Authority to reign over my life. May I remain steadfast in my faith in the Lord and witness your abundant blessings on my life. In Jesus’ Mighty Name I pray, Amen.
