Our God Reigns
BRD REFLECTION 2026
1 Thessalonians 3:1-5 and Psalm 108 (NIV)
(Aw Meng Yin, Discipleship and Nurture Ministry)
READ:
Psalm 108 is one of my favourite Psalms. The verses that speak to me are:
v. 5 – Be exalted, O God, above the heavens; let your glory be over all the earth.
v. 13 – With God we will gain the victory, and he will trample down our enemies.
OBSERVE:
In this Psalm, David speaks confidently of the Lord God Almighty, whose glory is over all the earth. The Lord is mighty to save him from his enemies. David is confident in his God, who will save him and give him victory because He is sovereign over every part of the earth.
APPLY:
God is sovereign over all the earth, and my confidence in Him should never be shaken. Like David, my heart should be steadfast, and I should sing and make music with all my soul—not only when things are going well or when I am on the mountaintop, but also when life is hard and I am down in the valley. My praises to God should not be only for the good times, but for all times. Because the God I worship is the Lord God Almighty over all the earth, I need to trust that He will deliver me when I cry out to Him and give me victory over all that seems unconquerable as I remain steadfast.
DO:
To build my confidence in God, I need to draw close to Him each day and know Him deeply so that I will learn to trust Him fully. I will remember that the Lord, my God, is not made of wood or stone, but is holy, powerful, and sovereign over all the earth and every detail of my life. With God on my side, I need not fear.
PRAY:
Abba Father, thank You for loving me, though You are the Lord God Almighty, the Maker of heaven and earth and You rule over all. Lord, help me to have the same confidence David had: to trust You to deliver me from all my enemies, to reach out to me in the valleys of my life, and not to be afraid, no matter what happens. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
