Be Glad And Rejoice Forever
BRD REFLECTION 2025
Isaiah 65:17-25 and Psalm 148 (NIV)
(Karen Tan, from Discipleship & Nurture)
READ:
Isaiah 65:18–19 (NIV)
OBSERVE:
God said He will create Jerusalem to be a delight and its people a joy. He will rejoice over Jerusalem and take delight in His people. And what I have to do as one of His people is to be glad and rejoice forever in what He creates.
APPLY:
“… be glad and rejoice forever” – it cannot be so simple! But it is that simple. This posture of gladness and rejoicing does not depend on my circumstances, my emotions nor my feelings for the day. But this posture of gladness and rejoicing is founded on God Himself and His very nature of love. He loves me so much that He finds me a joy and takes delight in me.
How do I respond to God’s love and cultivate a “be glad and rejoice forever” posture? By tending to my relationship with God just as God finds joy in me and delights in me, I will endeavour to find joy and delight in Him as well.
DO:
- Continue to practise the spiritual disciplines I learned in Companions in Christ – the different methods of reading God’s word, the various ways of prayer and to adhere to the rule of life I develop for myself.
- Learn to see the world and all the things in the world through God’s eyes; to take an eternity perspective, to look forward to the new earth He will create.
PRAY:
Father God, I thank You for being You and for Your love for me. You delight in me and find me to be a joy. I am deeply grateful. I pray that in Your mercy and grace, You will ground me in who You are and secure me in Your love, such that I will be thankful and rejoice and be glad always. Amen.
