Leave The Judgement To God

BRD REFLECTIONS

Lamentations 3:1-24  and Psalm 58 (NIV)

(Chow Yuen Peng, Pastoral Team Member, Pastoral Care; Girls’ Brigade)

READ:

Psalm 58 (NIV)

OBSERVE:

The Bible speaks frequently of God’s judgement. Psalm 58 expresses the joy and satisfaction that God’s people experience when evil is defeated and overthrown.  God commanded us to pray for our enemies, but in this situation, David was outraged at corruption and prayed to God not to allow the enemies to destroy him.  The one who is appropriately placed to judge is God and not men.  Human beings do not judge uprightly.  David had confidence in God’s judgement.

APPLY:

Likewise we as his disciples must desire and pray for the ultimate removal of all evil and for the establishment of God’s kingdom in the new heaven and earth.  We are to pray for our enemies to repent and turn to God; however, if these individuals continue to be wilful and rebellious, we are to commit them to God and leave the judgement to him like David.

DO:

I must continue to seek, serve and follow Christ in my daily living.  To feed my soul with His Word as my firm foundation. To trust God as time will remove doubts, solve difficulties, and reveal secrets.

PRAY:

O Lord, You are my Rock, my Fortress, and my Deliverer. Keep me safe, for in You I take refuge. You are my Shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.  I call to You, O Lord, who is worthy of praise, and I am saved from my enemies.  You are my Lord and Saviour; apart from You I have no good thing. Amen.
