Saved By Grace
BRD REFLECTIONS
Genesis 31, Psalm 26 (NIV)
(Roger Chan, Chairperson of Small Group Ministry)
READ:
Psalm 26 (NIV)
OBSERVE:
This Psalm of David is a declaration of loyalty to God. David declared that he had led a “blameless life” twice in verses 1 and 11, and encouraged God to test him by examining his heart and mind in verse 2. David ended the Psalm by implying that he would praise God openly in verse 12.
APPLY:
David declared his loyalty to God through this Psalm and he declared that he led a “blameless life” and invited God to examine him. I am not sure if I am bold enough to declare this as boldly as David. I am only human and I readily admit that I have made many foolish and regrettable mistakes in my life. I am but a sinner saved by grace. I take comfort that my sins are forgiven because of God’s great love for us all, for He sent his Son to die for our sins. Just as it was stated in Ephesians 1:7, “In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace.”
DO:
Knowing that God forgives my sins does not mean that I can continue sinning. I cannot take God’s grace for granted. God has granted me His Holy Spirit to guide me and help me be anchored in His Word. Just as it is stated in 2 Corinthians 5:17, when one accepts Christ, he is a new creation. The old has gone and the new has come. With God’s help, I strive to lead a “blameless life” and to celebrate God’s goodness every day.
PRAY:
Father, I seek your forgiveness for all my sins. Thank you for sending your Son to die on the Cross for me. I know I am undeserving, but you saved me. For that, I’m forever grateful. Please guide me as I strive to lead a “blameless life” each day. Teach me to be mindful of your unfailing love, and help me rely on your faithfulness. Help me follow your ways and transform me into your likeness. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
