Unconditional Love
BRD REFLECTION 2026
Genesis 27:30-46 and Psalm 89:30-37 (NIV)

READ:
The following passages of Genesis 27:35-36, and Psalm 89:33 stood out to me.
OBSERVE:
Like Esau, I often expect to be compensated for my efforts. Yet, like Jacob, there are times when this desire tempts me to compromise and act in ways that are un-Christlike. On the other end of the spectrum, there are times when the unfair actions of a counterparty deprive me of my perceived just rewards and recognition, leaving me in anger and despair.
Looking beyond my finite, imperfect works, I am reminded that the blessings from God are not a function of my good works, nor will they be taken away because I have fallen short or because someone has stolen my thunder. As long as I am willing to enter His rest with a humbled and contrite heart, His outstretched hand of love is always there, waiting for me.
APPLY:
I start every new day assured that our Father in Heaven loves me and has a wonderful path laid out for me. This truth ensures that I will always look to Him in all that I do, be empowered to do what I know is right in His eyes, and be enabled to run this race of faith no matter my circumstances.
DO:
I must always be mindful that I do not walk alone. I must always seek God first, enter His rest in prayer, abide in His Word, and do what pleases Him. The Holy Spirit will guide, correct, and empower me in my daily life.
PRAY:
Father, thank You for Your unconditional love for me, Your imperfect child. Help me to let go of my worldly guile and pride, and let You be the source of comfort, grace, and strength in each and every breathing moment of my life. Restore my relationship with You to the days when You first created Adam and Eve—as Your beloved child who totally depended upon You, waited upon You, and did not seek to do things their own way, by their finite and sinful understanding. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
