READ:
Revelation 15 and Psalm 140 (NIV)
OBSERVE:
Rev 14 opened the scene of our Lord with the 144,000 saints and an angel proclaiming that “the hour of His judgment has come” (Rev 14:7).
In Rev 15, the bowl judgments are announced. These are the final plagues from God before the establishment of His kingdom on earth. The inevitable has come! Judgement will fall upon the world which had turned away from God (Rev 14:8), and those who turned to the enemy (Rev 14:9).
The glory and victory of the Lord our God is assured. Standing on the sea of glass, before the throne of God, “those who have the victory over the beast, over his image and over his mark and over the number of his name” (Rev 15:2, NKJV) praised God with the “Song of Moses” (Rev 15:3).
God’s Name is holy and will not be taken in vain! “Who shall not fear You, O Lord, and glorify Your name? For You alone are holy. For all nations shall come and worship before You, For Your judgments have been manifested.” (Rev 15:4, NKJV)
After these things John saw the temple of the tabernacle of the testimony in heaven opened. (Rev 15:5 paraphrased). Seven bowl judgments were given to the seven angels to execute the final seven plagues on earth. These seven bowl judgements are full of the wrath of God (Rev 15:7).
APPLY:
Are the events of the end times something to be feared? For that matter, are the trials and tribulations in our life something to be feared? Humanly, there will be fear, anxiety, even insecurity in our physical and emotional well-being, but spiritually we must not be cowed. The Lord is with us, for He is Emmanuel God!
The times will certainly get worse even as the world’s economy and stability yoyo up and down but I can look to Jesus who has won the victory at the Cross! He will provide and He is with us through all trials!! These last days are for all who will repent and the end times is the culmination of the period of the Gentiles when God returns. The end of the end is a moment of great rejoicing!
Ps 140:12-13 says: “I know that the Lord will maintain The cause of the afflicted, And justice for the poor. Surely the righteous shall give thanks to Your name; The upright shall dwell in Your presence.”
DO:
Our salvation is assured! I need to keep my eyes fixed on God, and by the empowerment of the Holy Spirit, live faithfully and victoriously. Doing my part to bring others to Him. Trusting fully in our Heavenly Father who was and is and is to come! For the time is short.
PRAY:
Dear God, You who are the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. Praises be to Your Name! For You are worthy to be given honour and glory. “Deliver me, O Lord, from evil men; Preserve me from violent men,… Keep me, O Lord, from the hands of the wicked;” (Ps 140:1, 4). Teach me to fear You alone and by Your Holy Spirit strengthen me to make You known and to “maintain the cause of the afflicted and justice for the poor.” (Ps 140:12). To the end that Your Name be glorified! In Jesus’ Victorious Name. Amen.
