God Of Glory And Love

BRD REFLECTION 2025

Song of Songs 5:2-16, 6:1-3 and Psalm 8 (NIV)

(Ian Chng from Small Group Ministry)

READ:

Psalm 8 (NIV)

OBSERVE:

“LORD, our LORD, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory in the heavens.” (v1)

This is a psalm of wonder and praise as David looked at the heavens and considered the works of God in setting the moon and the stars in place.

This reminds me of a mission trip to India many years ago.  We were travelling at night and stopped along the open country roadside for a break.  As I looked at the sky, I was struck with awe at the majestic array of sparkling stars filling the heavens in the silence of the night.

The psalm is also about the amazing love of God who cares for us, makes us a little lower than the angels and gives us dominion over all of His creation on earth, in the air and in the seas.

We have an awesome and glorious God whose love for us is far beyond human understanding.

APPLY:

As Singapore celebrates its 60th birthday of nation building, I am reminded of the amazing grace of God. Within a span of 60 years, He has blessed us with peace, prosperity and visionary leaders with integrity.

On a personal front, I am grateful for the goodness of God in my life. He has given me a loving and supportive spouse, a caring community in the Lord and many opportunities to serve Him.

DO:

To honour the Lord, I must live a life of gratitude daily, obey and trust Him as He leads me along life’s journey and love Him more each day.

I pray that my relationship with God can echo the Song of Songs: “I am my beloved’s and my beloved is mine.” (6:3)

Jesus Christ is the Light of Life to a world in darkness. Whenever I have the opportunity, I must point others to this great Light and to the bright Morning Star.

PRAY:

Dear Lord, words cannot describe how majestic Your name is as I marvel at the love and works of Your hands with holy awe. I will continue to sing praises to You as long as I live. Thank You for loving me. Help me to live faithfully and share Your love with those who have yet to know You.

May the earth be filled with the knowledge of Your glory as the waters cover the sea (Habakkuk 2:14).

In Jesus’ most precious name, I pray.  Amen!
