To Prepare For That Day

BRD REFLECTIONS:

Daniel 12 and Psalm 30 (NIV)

(Chong Set Ling, Mandarin Ministry, SGL)

READ:

Daniel 12 (NIV)

OBSERVE:

In Daniel 12:1, Daniel’s people were those he led to the righteous God. The biblical account clearly indicates they’re recorded in the “book of life,” guaranteeing their salvation.

Verse 2 reveals the human soul’s eternity. This prompts profound inquiry: What lies ahead for this immortal soul? What experiences will it encounter beyond mortal life?

In Daniel 12:3, Those who bring many to righteousness will shine – This verse highlights individuals who guide others to the Lord, for He is the embodiment of righteousness.

“These astonishing things” encompasses the following divine promises:

  • Deliverance during unparalleled tribulation, ensuring salvation for God’s people whose names are written in the book (Daniel 12:1).
  • A future resurrection, where some will rise to everlasting life and others to shame and eternal condemnation (Daniel 12:2).
  • Eternal recognition for those guiding others to righteousness, shining like stars forever (Daniel 12:3).

In Daniel 12:8, Daniel, despite his exceptional intelligence, was perplexed by the vision. He asked pointedly, “What is the outcome of these events?”

In Daniel 12:9-10, “Daniel, go!” The “go!” there was to let Daniel go on to complete his mission.

APPLY:

After Daniel realized the “end of the world” was nearing and received an unclear vision, he sought clarification, ” What will the outcome of all this be? “ to prepare for that day. God’s response was simple: “Go,” instructing Daniel to complete his tasks and await the outcome.

As a captive in Babylon, Daniel stood before pagan kings, and was called to bear witness to the all-powerful God by integrating his faith into his daily words and actions in his workplace. Daniel 12:3, 10 remind me that obeying God refines and makes us wise, shining like heavenly lights. Those leading others to righteousness will shine eternally.

DO:

Under God’s sovereign care, all things are in His control. Since placing my faith in Him, my life’s journey has been guided by His divine will and purpose. So, in all circumstances, I’ll fulfill the Lord’s calling: leading others to Him. Amidst trials, I’ll remember:
• Love others
• Resist pressure
• Release guilt

PRAY:

Lord Jesus, thank You for turning my mourning into dancing, replacing sackcloth with joy, and filling my spirit with Your praises. I will praise You forever!
