God’s Strength And Glory
BRD REFLECTION 2025

OBSERVE:
One of the parables related by Jesus in Luke 16 was that of the shrewd manager who was accused of wasting his master’s possessions. In order to save himself, he used dishonest means to account for his master’s assets. The master even commended the dishonest manager for acting shrewdly.
In Psalm 29, David the psalmist described God’s forceful power and might in majestic terms where He calmed the waters and subdued the natural elements of the earth as the sovereign Lord of His creation. Even the mighty ones were called to acknowledge God’s glory and strength and to worship His holiness.
APPLY:
The manager was dishonest in promoting his selfish interest and was able to gain the favour of his superior. He would stop at nothing to gain favour with the world and secure any advantage for his future in this temporal world. In contrast, Luke 16:9 reminds me to use my worldly investments to bring eternal benefit, to “be welcomed into eternal dwellings.” As a child of God, why do I need to resort to my own means to protect myself? As a faithful child of God, while I am reminded of God’s earth-shattering power in Psalm 29, I am also assured that God gives the same strength exhibited by His power, to give strength to me as I go through life in honour of His Name. God will also bless me with peace.
DO:
I will look to God and rely on Him for my provisions and protection. I am confident that as God’s child, I will be blessed with His peace and His comforting strength.
PRAY:
Dear Lord, thank You for using Your might & strength to protect me and to give me peace. Grant me Your grace to give me more faith to rely on You always. Forgive me for the times when I lean on my own limited understanding and fail to trust You. May I find joy reading Your Word and discovering You. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
