What is In A Name?
BRD REFLECTIONS
Revelation 19:11-21 and Psalm 147 (NIV)

READ:
Revelation 19:11-21 (NIV)
OBSERVE:
These three verses in Revelation 19 struck me while I was walking to the beach for quiet time with the Lord – in my own words:
11 He is called Faithful and True.
16 On His robe and thigh this name is written ‘King of Kings and Lord of Lords’.
12 He has a name written on him that no one knows but he himself.
I can call out a person by the name I know him or her by;
He/She has a name given in an identity card or passport;
But only he/she himself/herself knows who he/she really is.
APPLY:
Do I have a name people call me by, mock me by, think of me by? Despite the name given to me in my identity card?
Do I know who I really am as a person? Warts and all?
His name is Faithful and True, Lord of Lords and King of Kings.
* Is this revelation and its application revealed and reflected actively in my life?
And if yes, am I applying the same principle in my life as a Christian in name?
* Is a new life revealed in the name given to me?
* If my ‘name’ is Faith, do I remain true to this ‘name’ in application to my daily life?
As I go through the different seasons of life, am I able to perceive the difference between what people call me and who I really am?
DO:
I will need to take the time to reflect on my daily life. To do this I can take up spiritual disciplines to gird and guide me, such as prayer and fasting, reflecting morning and night in every season of life.
PRAY:
Mysterious God, Name above all Names.
Grant me the grace and mercy to know who I really am, through Your Chosen Son, Jesus Christ. Amen.
