Today marks a significant milestone as we celebrate Wesley’s 137th Anniversary.
In conjunction with our 137th Anniversary today, our church newsletter Wesley TIDINGS will mark yet another huge milestone in its rich heritage with the launch of an all-new website.
Rich History of Wesley TIDINGS
By God’s grace, Wesley TIDINGS has been sustained through the years by the Lord, through all seasons.
At 86 years old, Wesley TIDINGS is one of the oldest Methodist publications in Singapore. Founded in 1 July 1936 as a 12-page, black-and-white church newsletter, it was known as The Wesley Tidings and was issued every fortnight with 1,000 copies printed. The Minister/Pastor-in-charge was Rev Hobart B. Amstutz and the newsletter Editor, Ms Lorinne Reinoehl.
In the last few decades, Wesley TIDINGS has evolved into a full-colour magazine that reports on the different aspects of church life in Wesley, keeping the church community up to date on its various outreach events and activities. It is helmed by our team of dedicated Communications staff and volunteers.
With the new website, we hope that Wesley TIDINGS will be able to meet the needs of new reading and learning habits and reach a wider audience, including our Wesley members, from the young to the old, and the wider community beyond Wesley.
Rich Source of Discipleship Content and Church News
We pray that the Pastors’ messages will encourage you, the discipleship content will help to deepen your walk with Jesus, the stories will anchor your faith, and the announcements and articles will keep you updated, and help you stay connected with our church family.
We also hope that the testimonies of our brothers and sisters will spur you on in your faith journey.
Finally, the digital-first approach of Wesley TIDINGS will help our Wesley community to reduce its carbon footprint as part of creation care.
For our seniors or those of us who would still prefer to have a copy of printed Wesley TIDINGS, we will continue to mail out a bi-monthly printed copy to you. Just get in touch with us.
