Majestic Creation

(Cassandra Leung, Pastoral Team Member, Children’s Ministry)

READ:

Ezra 6:13-22 and Psalm 8 (NIV)

OBSERVE:

‘Majestic Creation’ seems to be the two common words ringing in my mind as I read both Bible texts. The Temple and Mankind. What valuable creation!

In Ezra, God through his people built (created) the temple. In verse 14, I noted the Elders also laboured in the work, with cheerfulness to encourage the rest of the workmen. There was a sense of obedience, responsibility and pride to accomplish. After completion, the priests, the Levites and the exiles celebrated the dedication of the house with joy.

In the book of Psalm, David recognised the glory and greatness of God and that He is the all-powerful Creator. He recounted the work of His fingers and noted the importance of man who is ‘made a little lower than the heavenly beings’ (v5). Man bears the stamp of the Creator. Because God has already declared how valuable you and I are to Him, we can be set free from feelings of worthlessness. Sometimes when we look at creation, we cannot help feeling small. It is not wrong but God does not want us to dwell in our smallness. He gave us tremendous authority to be in charge of the whole earth. Whilst with these abilities, we therefore must be responsible and be good stewards and use the resources wisely and in the best interests of all.

APPLY

A few note-worthy pointers are:

Praise and give thanks to God for His wonderful majestic creation.

Be good stewards of His creation and care for the resources.

DO

I shall give God all glory for His wonderous handiworks in and around me. I should not take things for granted nor mis-use His resources or be careless. I need to help preserve and protect what we have been blessed with.

PRAY

Dear gracious and loving Father in Heaven, we want to give you our praises for your creation works before our eyes. Give us a heart like yours in loving and caring for things surrounding us. Mould us to be good stewards who are accountable for our actions.

We would like to pray too for good discipleship to be a mark of our character building. May we learn and put into action the core values of a disciple you want us to be. In turn, equip us to disciple the young ones, the next generation, to bring them up in your ways. We pray these in the Name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
