Protected By God

BRD REFLECTION 2026

2 Corinthians 1:12-24 and Psalm 31:14-18 (NIV)

(Lim Swee Kim from Discipleship and Nurture Ministry)

READ:

Psalm 31:14-18 (NIV)

OBSERVE:

“But I trust in You LORD; I say, “You are my God.” My times are in your hands; deliver me from the hands of my enemies, from those who pursue me. “ (Psalm 31: 14-15)

APPLY:

About 7 years ago, my younger brother asked for my help regarding a family matter. At first, I found it difficult to believe that a family member would betray him. However as time passed, it became evident to me that this family member was indeed ungodly and unethical. She was willing to betray not only my brother but also my mother, and this was very difficult for us to accept as we had known this family member from the time she was born.

Fortunately, our Heavenly Father lovingly revealed to us on multiple occasions this person’s deception and that allowed us to make the necessary changes in our family plans. Indeed, it is our Heavenly Father who can save us from being devoured by our enemies. After discussing with my mother, we resolved to keep our distance from this person for our own sanity and safety.

DO:

My mother and I will focus our thoughts, time and effort on her upcoming baptism instead of the issues with our family members.

I will praise God for His love for my family and especially my mother who will be 87 years old this year.

PRAY:

Our Father in Heaven, thank You for protecting us from our enemies even when we are unaware that they are in our midst. You are truly our Lord and Protector, preventing our enemies from hurting us. Help us to keep our hearts and eyes set on You rather than to dwell on our grief. We praise You Lord for Your love and grace. Amen.
