My Resolution!
BRD REFLECTIONS:
Joshua 5:13-15; Joshua 6:1-27 and Psalm 6 (NIV)
(Joyce Lo, SGM PCZL)
READ:
Joshua 5:13-15; Joshua 6:1-27 and Psalm 6 (NIV)
OBSERVE:
Psalm 6 is known as a song of confession and humility written by King David, although we do not know on what occasion this song was written. David was not afraid to cry out to the Lord, weeping and even agonizing before Him. But we know that God will not overlook or be unhappy with our cries and pleas, and His tender mercies triumph over judgement (James 2:13). That is why David ended Psalm 6 on a note of confidence because he knew that God would hear him and answer his prayer. This is the most assuring and comforting truth about our Almighty God.
APPLY:
2023 has been the most challenging year for me, filled with betrayals and disappointments. Yet it has been most fulfilling as I drew even closer to God through these trials. I can relate to David’s cry for forgiveness, pardon and help when he was faced with sins, enemies and even physical pain. I went through a roller coaster ride in my spiritual and emotional journey each day but somehow I know that God heard my cries and saw my despair, and He answered my prayers in the most mysterious way. I know that “even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.” (Psalm 23:4). During the lowest point in my spiritual life, God used me to start a Small Group at my workplace, by gathering like-minded Christians to be intercessors for the organization and for one another. In Christ alone, I can now stand in confidence and be strengthened in faith so as not to be crushed down by the enemy (2 Cor 4:7-9).
DO:
I will slow down the pace of my life, meditate on His Word regularly and spend more time with Him. I will learn to trust Him at all times, knowing that He has everything under control. I will rest with a peaceful mind and heart, and let my faith triumph over my troubles. God always has a plan and it is always good for me!
PRAY:
Dear God our Father, thank You for Your great love for me. I pray that I will be deeply rooted and established in love, to grasp the depths of Your love for Your children, and know this love surpasses knowledge. I pray that You will use me to reach out to those in need, those who have yet to know You and Your everlasting love. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen!
