Trust In The Lord
BRD REFLECTION 2025
(Charlene Hong, SGM Staff Team)
READ:
Psalm 125:1-2
Those who trust in the LORD are like Mount Zion, which cannot be shaken but endures forever.
As the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the LORD surrounds his people both now and forevermore.
OBSERVE:
The psalm begins with – “Those who trust in the LORD are like Mount Zion, which cannot be shaken but endures forever”
In the words of David Guzik:
Those who trust in the LORD: What follows is a promise made to those who put their trust in the LORD. We can’t properly put our trust in Him until we remove our trust in other things. He alone is our refuge and strength.
Are like Mount Zion, which cannot be shaken: The pilgrim who came from afar was impressed with the stature and standing of Mount Zion, the prominent hill upon which Jerusalem was established. The one who believes and trusts in the LORD is promised the same security, and his or her position endures forever. Our place in His love, His new life, and His gracious purpose lasts forever and cannot be moved.
APPLY:
I recall a time when I found myself in a season of refining. During that season, I struggled with deep fear and anxiety, doubt and anger, only to find out later that I was in depression.
Not only did God move me out of my situation through brothers and sisters in Christ. He placed me in a new and safe environment; He led me to a good clinical counsellor and HIS ministry counsellors who healed me both mentally and spiritually. It was nothing short of a miracle.
God is indeed the mountain that surrounds His people. God surrounded me and provided for me through this difficult time.
DO:
For the trials and testing that come my way, may I remember this season of refining, and find strength, declaring “Yes, I can trust Him; even when I can’t see, hear or feel Him; even when I cannot see the light. He is there!”
PRAY:
Dear LORD, thank You for knowing my heart and remaining faithful when my faith wavered. Thank You for surrounding me like the mountains that surround Jerusalem. Lead me to understand more about the fear of the Lord and what it means to know You and to love You. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
