Judgement Against The Wicked And Joy For The Faithful
BRD REFLECTION 2025
Isaiah 66:1-11 and Psalm 149 (NIV)
(Jennifer Ng, from Mandarin Ministry)
READ:
Isaiah 66:1-11 (NIV)
OBSERVE:
Isaiah 66 begins with a powerful reminder of God’s sovereignty: “Heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool” (v1). God is not impressed by empty rituals, but values humility and reverence—cherishing those “who are humble and contrite in spirit” (v2). While He warns of judgment for insincerity and disobedience (v3), God also offers comfort and joy to the faithful (v11). This passage calls us to authentic worship and trust in God’s promises.
APPLY:
This reflection causes me to ask if I’m truly grounded in God’s Word and seeking His will, or am I just performing empty rituals. Am I humble and contrite as God desires, or am I seeking my own recognition instead of honoring Him?
DO:
- I will study the Bible with an open and sincere heart.
- I will seek God’s wisdom and guidance through regular prayer.
- I will pray for humility and a contrite spirit.
- I will consistently practice my faith and allow God’s truth to transform me.
PRAY:
Dear Abba Father,
Thank You for Your boundless love and mercy, shown through Jesus Christ. I confess my weaknesses and distractions, asking You to shine Your light on my heart and guide me back to Your ways. Shape in me a humble, obedient, and compassionate spirit. Help me put others first, and grant me faith and courage in all circumstances. May Your Word lead me, and may I remain humble and open to Your teaching. I pray in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen!
