Pursue Wisdom

Proverbs 2:1-22 and Psalm 102 (NIV)

READ:
For today’s reflection, God spoke to me through Proverbs 2:1-22, particularly verses 1-5:
1My son, if you accept my words
and store up my commands within you,
2 turning your ear to wisdom
and applying your heart to understanding—
3 indeed, if you call out for insight
and cry aloud for understanding,
4 and if you look for it as for silver
and search for it as for hidden treasure,
5 then you will understand the fear of the Lord
and find the knowledge of God.
OBSERVE:
Seeking wisdom from God is intentional and we should approach it from a posture of complete surrender and humility. Are we prepared to receive God’s wisdom? The conditions set out in Proverbs 2 are very clear. If we want wisdom from God, we need to be receptive to God’s word and we need to actively seek His wisdom. It takes time and effort.
When we seek God’s wisdom from this posture, God will grant us wisdom! This wisdom gives us the discernment we need to help us navigate through the many challenges we face in our lives and the end result is that we will find life (v20-22).
APPLY:
Asking God for wisdom is not limited to the difficult challenges that I may face but in every aspect of my life. Is there an area where I need God’s wisdom? Will I approach Him from a posture of surrender and humility?
DO:
I will ask God for His wisdom by :
- Reading and meditating on scripture daily
- Asking for understanding of His Word
- Fearing God
- Being patient and prayerfully asking for God’s discernment
- Living a godly life
PRAY:
Father God, deepen my relationship with You daily for You are the source of my sanctified wisdom. Grant me Your discernment to navigate through all my daily activities. In Your most precious Name. Amen.
