Intentional Discipleship
BRD REFLECTION 2025
(Alvena Khoo, Pastoral Team Member)
READ:
Isaiah 42, reflection focusing on verses 6-7
OBSERVE:
God is the initiator. He chose and empowered His people. He not only calls but also guides and protects His as they fulfil His mission. This calling extends beyond Israel, reaching the Gentiles. We are called to be a light to the nations. To heal, to set captives free and to release those living in darkness.
APPLY:
God’s call to His people then is still His call to us today. We are called to live out this ongoing mission. To be a light in the world and to bring both physical and spiritual healing to those in need. We are called to proclaim freedom for the oppressed, to extend hope to the hopeless, and to share the good news of Christ that will bring about transformation.
My faith in Christ must not remain inward alone. It must overflow into outward action as it shines on dark and hurting places. I cannot truly be His disciple if I ignore His call or neglect to love His people. The needs around me are real and constant. Have I grown too comfortable, too content, to see them? Am I willing to respond to His call, or am I turning a blind eye to those who need His light?
DO:
As the year draws to a close, our church completes direction 2025 on Intentional Discipleship. I pause to reflect on my growth and journey as an intentional disciple. I want to live with intention. Not just to learn, but to love. Not just to pray, but to act. To be present where pain lives, and to bring God’s light to those who need it.
PRAY:
Lord, Your touch soothes and heals the hurting. Your feet walk beside the weary. You feed the hungry, clothe the naked. You give the homeless warmth and shelter. Jesus, You said, “See my hands and feet, love arisen from the grave”. You called me to be Your hands and feet and to live as one You died to save. Help me love outwardly like You, as an expression of my love to You. Amen .
*Prayer adapted from song “Be My Hands and Feet”
