A Life Redeemed For His Glory

BRD REFLECTIONS:

Ephesians 5:21-33; 6:1-9 and Psalm 67 (NIV)

(Adam Leong, Chairperson of Family Life Ministry)

READ

Psalm 67 (NIV)

1 May God be gracious to us and bless us and make his face shine on us

2 so that your ways may be known on earth, your salvation among all nations.

OBSERVE:

Psalm 67: 1-2 is a reminder for me to know my purpose in God’s divine plan.

Asking God to be gracious to me, is a humble plea to my Creator even though I am unworthy. Like the prodigal son who has strayed far from the father, I need God’s grace, as I am made aware of my sinful ways (my thoughts, words, and deeds, even my desires) and return to Him.

Asking God to bless me is to be aware that all I have comes from Him and Him alone. The only thing I can bring to the table is my sinful nature. It is by His grace that He chooses to bless me with gifts and talents.

Asking God to “make His face to shine on us” is my plea to God to restore my relationship with Him. It is my desire to have His will be done in my life. It is an acknowledgement that I am a sinner and He is my only hope.

And when He shines upon me, I will be filled by His presence and be transformed from the inside out. His presence enables me to be transformed to Christlikeness through discipleship. His presence and transformation will be seen by all around me. His purpose for me is to bring salvation to others.

His glory is manifest when He uses me, a sinner, as an instrument of peace for the salvation of those around me.

APPLY:

I need to remind myself that all the blessings I have are from my Heavenly Father. They are given to me for a purpose. It is not just for my own enjoyment but more importantly to be a channel of blessing to those around me.

As I choose to be a channel of His blessing, His divine purpose in my life is fulfilled and His holy Name is glorified.

DO:

I have been serving in the choir for many years and thank God for the privilege to sing for His glory. I also serve in the Family Life Ministry, allowing God to use whatever experiences I have had in my prodigal journey to be both a warning and an encouragement to others.

Serving in church can sometimes be challenging or even discouraging. But I am encouraged when I remember the words of Paul in Galatians 2:20 (NIV), “I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.”

If you know your purpose and are serving Him, praise the LORD! But if you do know your purpose and are not serving, what is holding you back?

PRAY:

Heavenly Father, I thank you for your grace and blessings in my life. How you have lifted me up from the miry clay, cleansed and clothed me and showed me my purpose in Your divine plan.

May You now touch the heart of this reader. May Your presence be so real that You spark a genuine response in this precious life so that Your glory will be revealed.

In the powerful Name of Jesus I pray, Amen.
