From Seeking Man’s Love And Affirmation To Praising God

OBSERVE:
God saw that Leah was rejected and unloved by Jacob. God cared for her and blessed her with four sons. The names Leah gave to her first three sons revealed her longing for her husband’s love and acceptance. It was only after she gave birth to her fourth son, Judah, that she recognised her worth in God’s love and acceptance and praised God.
It was also through the lineage of Judah that Jesus came. This is a reminder that God can accomplish His purposes in ways that may seem disappointing at first.
APPLY:
I often seek affirmation for what I do from people. I often become discouraged when I feel unappreciated and not affirmed.
Leah’s story reminds me that God’s love and care matter more than anyone else’s. Even though I have failed and fallen short, I am still loved by God, who cares for me. I need to be thankful to God for His love and care.
Just as Leah was not defined by Jacob’s love, I am not defined by others’ love or by what I can achieve. I am a child of God, deeply loved and cared for by Him. When I praise Him instead of seeking affirmation and love from others, I am filled with His peace.
DO:
I will:
· Praise God and thank Him for watching over me, loving me, and caring for me.
· Reflect on where I am seeking affirmation from people rather than from God, and repent.
· Encourage someone who may be feeling unloved by reminding them of God’s love and care.
PRAY:
Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for loving and caring for me. Forgive me when I seek affirmation and love from others instead of from You. Help me move from seeking man’s affirmation and love to seeking, praising, and rejoicing in You. In my challenges and disappointments, give me strength to trust Your ways and purposes. Help me encourage those who feel like Leah with Your love and care. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
