God’s Kingship In My Life
BRD REFLECTIONS:
1 Chronicles 5:1-26; 6:1-81 and Psalm 66:1-20 (NIV)

READ:
1 Chronicles 5; 6 and Psalm 66 (NIV)
OBSERVE:
1 Chronicles 5 and 6 detail the genealogies and histories of the tribes of Reuben, Gad, and the half-tribe of Manasseh, as well as the Levites. The chapters focus on their military strength, faithfulness, and eventual exile because they broke faith with God.
Psalm 66:1-20 is a psalm of thanksgiving and praise, calling all people to praise God for His awesome deeds and power, both in general and specifically for Israel’s deliverance.
APPLY:
I serve a faithful, living God, who has been involved in my life and the life of my ancestors. God felt the heartbeat of a Christian grandmother-in-law and my mother. He heard their individual prayers and granted them. Such are the precious blessings of families when they choose to move with King Jesus.
I was called to ministry a few years after I recovered from a challenging health situation. At that time, I was reluctant to move out of my comfort zone. As a Wesleyan, I had already faithfully participated in many church activities and was comfortable on the sidelines.
I joined as church staff after a time of struggle. Disobedience would have caused me to miss out many opportunities to bless and be blessed by others. As I earnestly sought God, I received boundless energy to love as Jesus loved, to walk alongside those who are hurting, to bring courage to those who fear, to encourage faith in times of anxiety and confusion. My boxed-up love gave way to an ever-flowing stream to serve Him and others.
God opened up an unexplored area of my life and helped me find unconditional love. The more I serve, the more my love tank is filled to overflowing.
In contrast, through the genealogies in 1 Chronicles 5 & 6, I see sin and disobedience change history, removing blessings meant for the next generation.
I will obey, serve and honour God, so that others will also know and accept Him as King in their life.
DO:
Daily, I will give thanks with prayers and glorious praise as an extension of deep gratitude to a merciful and loving Father (Ps 66:1-2).
PRAY:
Lord, through the Word, I have seen Your wondrous love and faithfulness, justifying and redeeming me through Your Son Jesus. Strengthen me to reach out and love sincerely. I choose to testify of Your kingship as I lift up holy hands. May my open testimony and service honour Your Lordship and draw the broken-hearted into Your eternal kingdom. Amen.
