God’s Covenant
BRD REFLECTIONS:
Exodus 19-20 and Psalm 66 (NIV)
(Chang Lee Hoon , CIC)
READ:
Exodus 19:5-6
Now if you obey me fully and keep my covenant, then out of all nations you will be my treasured possession. Although the whole earth is mine, you will be for me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.’
OBSERVE:
In this chapter, we see God fulfilling His promise to the Israelites, saving them from slavery in Egypt and now telling them that they are His chosen people and treasured possession. They will be channels of blessings to other nations. Here, we see God appearing to His people and speaking to them, so that the people may hear and believe. (v9)
APPLY:
Just as God has delivered the Israelites from slavery, he has delivered me from sin through Jesus Christ. I must live a life worthy of His calling. I may not be called to be doing ministry work or anything big, but in my daily living, I must always remind myself to trust God and His promises and to obey His call and will.
DO:
I am glad that I can go to God’s Word daily and meet Him there. I must pause and reflect on how He would like me to represent Him in my daily activities. Many times I have missed out on His calling because I was too busy, rushing about or just too tired…
PRAY:
Psalm 66: 17-20
I cried out to him with my mouth; his praise was on my tongue. If I had cherished sin in my heart, the Lord would not have listened; but God has surely listened and has heard my prayer. Praise be to God, who has not rejected my prayer or withheld his love from me.
Father God, forgive my disobedience and willfulness. Thank you that you have never broken your promises to me; your faithfulness never fails. Teach me each day to praise your great work, for none can compare with you. Thank you for listening to my prayer, in Jesus’ name I pray, Amen!
