The Willing Sheep
BRD REFLECTIONS:
Ezekiel 33, 34 and Psalm 8 (NIV)
(David Foo, SWR Committee)
READ:
Ezekiel 34:11-16 (NIV)
OBSERVE:
God is often portrayed in the Bible as the Good Shepherd as seen in the passages in Ezekiel 34:11-16 and Psalm 23. In today’s reading which includes Psalm 8, He is not only our Good Shepherd, but also the Almighty Shepherd, the creator of heaven and earth, the moon and the stars. Everything belongs to Him. He made us a little lower than the angels and has crowned us with glory and honour. He has given us dominion over the works of His hands.
APPLY:
As I look forward to each day, I know God is the one shepherding me. Each day given is not by accident or coincidence. God ordained it. I thank God for each day. God has shown me the best pastures, He has provided the best opportunities for me to come to Him, to rest, to encounter Him and grow to be like Him. Now, it is up to me to be that willing sheep, to lean in and glean from His provisions. At the end of each day my prayer is, “God if I awake tomorrow, I give thanks for another day . If I awake and see the SON, I give thanks that I am safely home in my shepherd’s arms.”
DO:
After completing the Nehemiah series in church, this BRD is a good checkpoint for me to reflect on what I need to Rebuild and Renew in my life. God has given me all I need to be successful on this journey. All I need is to:
1. Take a deliberate pause and take stock of my spiritual life.
2. Connect daily with the Holy Spirit.
3. Worship God with songs of thanksgiving.
PRAY:
Lord, I want to encounter You. I thank You for the resources that You, my Good Shepherd, have prepared for me. I am blessed by You, and I want to be Your blessings to others. Lord, I pray that I may continue to discipline myself in the reading of Your Word. Help me to pause, slow down and prepare well to encounter Your presence. I also pray for Your protection over me, as I know the evil one aims to disrupt Your work. I pray this also for my family-in-Christ. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
