From Darkness Into The Light

BRD REFLECTIONS:

Micah 7:1–20 and Psalm 52:1–9 (NIV)

(Ho Han Ming from Worship and Music Ministry)

READ:

Micah 7:1–20 and Psalm 52:1–9 (NIV)

OBSERVE:

Prophet Micah opens this chapter with a confession of not just his but all the people’s sins. Their sins were so great that he could not find even one who was righteous (v2). The relationships between God’s people had crumbled and there was no one to trust (v5-6). The only solution was to trust and wait upon the Lord (v7).

APPLY:

In my life, be it in my personal or professional relationships, I have encountered deceit and abuse. Although these relationships are not life threatening like those described in the Bible verses, they have negatively affected the way I treat relationships and people in general.

Through the writer of these verses, God has shown me that I can bring my negative experiences to Him, take refuge and trust in Him to deliver me from tough situations. I believe that the God who saved me will also provide strength and wisdom to help me face my challenges.

DO:

I give thanks to God for my family, friends and co-workers (in my workplace and in my ministry).

I ask God to bless me with His wisdom and strength. In situations of deceit, conflict and suffering, I want to:

  1. understand and accept the situation
  2. wait upon the Lord’s deliverance
  3. hear what the Lord would have me do
  4. do what the Lord would have me do.

PRAY:

Lord, thank You for being among us. You have experienced betrayal, suffering and even death as a human being. Your sacrifice and resurrection have saved us from eternal death. I give thanks for the people and the situations You have placed in my life. Whenever I experience dark and painful moments, please give me strength and wisdom to persevere, hear Your voice and to follow You to bring Your light into the darkness. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
