There Will Be No More Delay!
BRD REFLECTION 2025
Revelation 10 and Psalm 131 (NIV)
(Yap Tsok Kee from Small Group Ministry)
READ:
Revelation 10:6 (NIV) ”…There will be no more delay!”
Revelation 10:11 (NIV) “Then I was told, “You must prophesy again about many peoples, nations, languages and kings.”
Psalm 131: 2-3 (NIV) “But I have calmed and quieted myself, I am like a weaned child with its mother; like a weaned child I am content. Israel, put your hope in the LORD both now and forevermore.”
OBSERVE:
As I read Revelation 10, what stands out to me was the verse, “There will be no more delay!”. It shows the urgency of God’s great commission to us and it is reiterated by verse 11 where John is told that he must prophesy again to many the good news of Jesus our saviour and our Lord.
In Psalm 131, which is a short Psalm, we are reminded by the writer that our relationship with God is like a weaned child, one that is no longer dependent on the mother for sustenance but with a trusting and loving relationship. Just like Jesus said in Matthew 18:3 “unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.”
APPLY:
Incidentally as I was doing my reflections on Revelation 10, two persons who are close to me, a family member and another long-time friend, were both diagnosed with critical illness. The verse resonates strongly and is a reminder to me that my time here is finite and my work for Jesus needs to take more urgency.
And if I encounter setbacks or challenges, just like Psalm 131, I can rest, assured in my relationship with my loving Abba Father and I can turn my troubles and hopes to Him.
DO:
I am reminded of my finite time here and that what is important in my life is my calling to spread His message to all and at all times. I am also reminded that at all times, I can rest in His assurance to me.
PRAY:
Dear Abba Father, I earnestly pray that I will be able to share the good news to all my family and friends who are still ignorant of You. I pray for the Holy Spirit to guide me in the sharing and to see the needs of all those You have sent my way. I am comforted that I have a loving relationship through Jesus with You and I can rest in my hope in Jesus. Amen.
