BRD REFLECTION 2025
Isaiah 30 and Psalm 119:89-96 (NIV)
(Dalson Cruz from Small Group Ministry)
READ:
Psalm 119:89-96 (NIV)
OBSERVE:
The Psalmist acknowledges God’s authority and guidance as conveyed through His words. He affirms God’s eternal nature and His steadfastness, and faithfulness across all generations (vv. 89-91). Furthermore, the Psalmist expresses that God’s word is his source of delight, describing the precepts as life-preserving and redemptive (vv. 92-94). Even during times of adversity, he contemplates God’s statutes, recognising that while human perfection has its limits, God’s commandments are boundless (vv. 95-96).
APPLY:
Reflecting on today’s Bible reading, I am reminded of the unwavering relevance of God’s words. They have been a source of guidance, healing and protection throughout my life. Having lived in Singapore for 15 years, I have experienced firsthand how God’s word can help overcome trials and lead to a peaceful and fulfilling life. As I prepare for an upcoming move to the US, the uncertainty and discomfort of starting anew weigh heavily on my mind. However, these verses assure me of God’s faithfulness and remind me to trust and depend on Him. His words are true across generations, and I should learn to rely on His guidance and promises.
Furthermore, the Psalmist’s commitment to remembering and meditating on God’s precepts is a gentle call for me to cultivate spiritual disciplines. In the hurry of everyday life, it is easy to forget the power of intentionally reflecting on the Scriptures. Yet, as the Psalmist demonstrates, it is this very practice that provides wisdom, perspective, and a sense of purpose beyond the limits of my understanding.
DO:
- Trust in God’s words and promises that He will guide and save us.
- Ask for God’s help to focus on His plans and depend on Him.
- Read the Bible regularly and meditate on His words
PRAY:
Father God, thank You for keeping me in Your guiding hands. Forgive me in times that I take actions on my own instead of consulting and relying on You. Help me to grow in faith through Your words and I pray for Your continued guidance for me and my loved ones. In Jesus’ name I ask this, Amen.
