Fully Known
BRD REFLECTION 2025

READ:
Psalm 139 (NIV)
OBSERVE:
Psalm 139 begins with David’s acknowledgement of God’s intimate knowledge of him. God knows when he sits and rises, and knows his thoughts and ways completely (v1-4).
In verses 7 to 12, David reflects on God’s omnipresence. Whether he goes to the heavens, the depths, or the far side of the sea, God is there (v7-9).
The tone shifts in verses 19 to 22. David expresses loyalty to God through his hatred for those who opposed God (v19-22). He invites God to examine him and recognises his need for God’s guidance and correction (v23-24).
APPLY:
God knows my heart and mind–everything about me. He knows the ‘me’ in church, the ‘me’ at work, and the ‘me’ at home. He knows the reality of my inner life: my genuine thoughts, feelings, motives, and struggles. There is no hiding from Him. Nothing is hidden; nothing is unknown.
I am reminded of Pastor Ian’s sermon on 19 Oct 2025, ‘Bearing The Name’. The question confronts me: am I reflecting Him well in all my actions and thoughts–whether seen or unseen by others?
Yet this same truth–that God knows everything–also brings me comfort. His omniscience means He knows my anxious thoughts. He knows my every hurt and hidden pain, even those I thought were long healed. In His mercy, He gently brings them to the surface–not to condemn me, but to heal me.
DO:
I want to:
- Invite God to search my heart for anything that needs His healing or correction.
- Trust the One who knows me best and loves me most to do His transforming work in me.
- To allow myself to be vulnerable to those He sends to walk alongside me.
PRAY:
Lord, You know me completely–every thought and every wound within. Thank You for Your steadfast love. Thank You for seeing what I cannot see and for bringing to light what needs Your healing and correction. Search my heart and do Your transforming work in me. Help me to trust Your perfect love, and give me the courage to be open and vulnerable to those You send to walk with me. May my life reflect Your name. I ask in Jesus’ name. Amen.
