READ:
Psalm 89:9,15 (NIV)
⁹ You rule over the surging sea; when its waves mount up, You still them.
¹⁵ Blessed are those who have learned to acclaim You, who walk in the light of Your presence, LORD.
OBSERVE:
Psalm 89:9–18 paints a powerful portrait of God’s absolute sovereignty and steadfast love. He commands the storms, shapes the universe, and stands victorious over every enemy. Because His throne is rooted in justice and truth, we can walk in His joy, find strength in His grace, and rest safely in His care.
The psalmist highlights that those who learn to acclaim the Lord and walk in the light of His presence will rejoice in His name all day long. Ultimately, as they celebrate His righteousness, they find a lasting sanctuary of joy and strength in Him.
APPLY:
· Surrender the Storms: When life feels overwhelming, chaotic, or out of control, I must choose to remember that God rules over the surging seas. I will hand my anxieties over to Him, trusting Him to still my restless heart.
· Cultivate Consistent Praise: To truly become someone who has “learned to acclaim” God, I must look for His goodness and rejoice in His name all day long, even on ordinary or difficult days.
· Anchor in His Presence: Walking in His light requires intention. By starting each morning in prayer, I invite His presence to guide my mind and steps throughout the week.
DO:
· Pause and Release: When anxiety strikes, I will consciously stop, recall God’s power over the waves, and actively hand my stress over to Him.
· Seek Daily Blessings: I will intentionally look for reasons to praise God each day, training my eyes to see His hand at work in every circumstance.
· Dedicate My Mornings: I will protect the first moments of my day for prayer, practising His presence early so that my thoughts, words, and actions remain aligned with His light.
PRAY:
Lord, thank You for showing me Your incredible power over the storms of life. When things feel chaotic and out of control, help me pause, surrender my anxieties, and trust You to still my heart. Teach me to look for Your goodness every day so that I can praise You all day long, even in difficult moments. As I seek Your presence each morning, guide my thoughts, words, and actions, and keep me walking securely in the warmth of Your light. In the almighty name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
