A Fool In An Intelligent Age

BRD REFLECTION 2026

1 Corinthians 3:16-23 and Psalm 10:12-18 (NIV)

(Wong Chi Kong, Worship & Music Ministry)

READ:

1 Corinthians 3:18-20 spoke to me. In this passage Paul was rebuking the Corinthian church for being divided into factions, being spiritually immature, and even considering themselves wise in this age.

OBSERVE:

I have been attending several classes on AI – Artificial Intelligence – over the past month, learning about its capabilities, limitations, and strengths. I must say that it is quite scary. It is frightening because of what AI can do and how much information it holds about us. However, what scares me most is the thought that those who know how to use this tool might fall into the trap of believing they possess all the knowledge, power, and wisdom in the world and that they can control and do anything.

We live in an age where we have access to so much of information, but does having all that information equate to wisdom? More importantly, is it the kind of wisdom that God wants us to have?

APPLY:

As we progress to co-exist with AI, I am reminded by Paul that, even though I am empowered by the knowledge and capabilities that AI can provide, they pale in comparison to the wealth of knowledge and wisdom that God possesses. Rather than relying on AI for my daily answers and risking becoming a fool, I should be spending more time with the ultimate holder of truth and wisdom.

DO:

While I can chat with AI about the Bible and about God, at the other end of the conversation, it is still a machine.

I must constantly remind myself that AI is just a tool to augment human intelligence. We must still turn to God, rely on God, pray to God, and spend time with God.

PRAY:

Dear Heavenly Father, I marvel at how You have created us and enabled us to create artificial intelligence. While AI tries to mimic human thinking, it can never match the complex neural structure You have woven into our brains. You are the source of all knowledge and wisdom. You know our past, our present, and our future. You know us intimately and love us immensely. I pray that we may use AI in ways that glorify You, Lord. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
