Praise His Holy Name, Always!

BRD REFLECTION 2026

Genesis 38:1–19 and Psalm 104:1–9 (NIV)

(Adam Leong from Worship & Music Ministry)

READ:

Psalm 104:1–9 (NIV)

OBSERVE:

Today’s verses remind me of how great and marvellous my God is and that, regardless of my situation, I should praise His Name! Rather than depending on my feelings, I must posture my heart to praise Him by looking to God and to His Word, which says I’m precious in His sight.

If my God has the power to command nature—the wind, the waters, and the very foundations of the earth—then He surely has the power to protect and save me from any harm, whether physical or spiritual, that might befall me.

APPLY:

My Christian journey has sometimes been one of ups and downs. I feel happy when I’m up, when things are going my way, and unhappy when I’m down, when things don’t turn out as I expect.

I never really thought about why I felt that way, and at times I even blamed God for leading me to those down times.

However, as I’ve come to realise, God does not toss me up and down as though I were His human yo-yo. No, His Word is very clear.

Proverbs 3:5–6 says: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.”

This is one of my favourite passages about God leading me through life. It speaks of submission to His will and of the posture of my heart.

He has always been leading me towards the right path—His path. It is I who have chosen not to follow Him, especially when His path did not seem to lead to my expected outcome. That was a sign of a wrong heart posture.

DO:

When I encounter challenging situations in my life, I will not blame others or even God; I will submit myself to His sovereignty, knowing that He has not abandoned me but is guiding me through them.

I will posture my heart to keep close to God always: reading His Word, praying to Him, and praising Him. I will also actively seek out ways to serve others in the body of Christ, so that I may be transformed into His likeness.

PRAY:

Heavenly Father, I praise You because of who You are. You, who do mighty works, have chosen to love me even before I was created. I praise Your holy Name. May You continue to lead and guide me on my journey ahead so that with each step I may give You glory. In the powerful and gentle Name of Jesus I pray. Amen.
