BRD REFLECTIONS:

Micah 2 and Psalm 46 (NIV)

(William Chan from Worship and Music Ministry)

READ:

For this reflection, I have focused on both Micah 2 and Psalm 46.

OBSERVE:

In Micah 2:1-2, it was disgusting how the rich and powerful oppressed those who were poorer and of lower status. Prophet Micah condemned those who plotted evil and wickedness even in their dreams and subsequently in their actions. But the Lord had had enough and would not let these bullies walk away. It was doomsday for them.

During this time, the evil ones’ lives were ruined, everything was taken away, leaving nothing. No one would stand up for them. The grace of God was taken away from them, and they had no place to rest because of their deeds.

Psalm 46:1 said that God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Thus, I know I can fully rely on God and take shelter in Him in times of trouble.

APPLY:

As I prepared the reflection on Micah 2, the message I received is that God is concerned about both  individual and collective holiness of His people. For those in power and oppressing those in lower positions, the Lord will deal with them in time to come. In Romans 12:19 it is written; “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.”

In Psalm 46:1, God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. I remember a time when I needed a solution at work to meet the deadline. When no one was able to help me, I prayed to God and He sent me a helper.

DO:

• I will learn to wait on God during unfair situations, and allow the Lord to deal with the situations in His time.

• Continue to pray for strength and patience.

• Ask God for protection against any oppression.

PRAY:

Dear Father God, I thank You for Your protection and blessings. Teach me to be patient when I encounter unfair situations. I need Your strength and power in my life. I know that apart from You, I can do nothing. I acknowledge the areas in which I feel weak and acknowledge I need to fully rely on You. Give me strength and power which I know can only come from You. Amen.
