God Is Worth It

BRD REFLECTION 2026

1 Corinthians 15:50-58 and Psalm 25:16-22 (NIV)

(Ryan Lim from CIC and Church Analytics Ministry)

READ:

1 Corinthians 15:50-58 (NIV)

OBSERVE:

“Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.”

For something not to be in vain, it must be worth it. Is being with God worth it?

APPLY:

As I read this passage, my cousin came to mind. He lost his wife (in her 30s) to cancer in late 2025. Yet in all his grief, he penned that though it hurt so much, he still trusted in the Lord.

To him, God was worth it. I asked myself, Why is God worth it to me? Is it because of the prize at the end? Do I seek heaven to spend eternity with God, or is it because I fear the alternative? Therefore, I sat down and had a chat with God: “Why do I say You are worth it?” Is it because of Your blessings, grace and protection, of which I am a frequent recipient (thanks be to God)? Yet I still have many unanswered prayers; nevertheless, I trust that He will bring them to pass. It was then that I realised it was being in His presence that was worth it, not always the outcome.

Whenever difficult moments come, God sends comforters and secret directors to reassure and comfort me. However, once, during a particularly low moment, I suddenly lost the sense of God’s presence for an entire day. That feeling of God’s absence shocked me, and I felt this huge sense of loss, greater than what that low moment itself brought. While I experienced God’s comfort the next day, it dawned on me that I needed His daily presence in my life.

Thus, this verse has taken on a new meaning to me. Why is my labour not in vain in the Lord? Well, it is because God is with me in my labours, and at the end, I get to spend all eternity with God. The prize is not the place, but the promise that I get to dwell with Him forever.

DO:

I will spend more time with God daily and remember how I truly need and enjoy being with Him.

PRAY:

Heavenly Father, thank You for this reminder that though some of the work set before me is challenging and not the easiest to do, it is still worth it, as You will be with me while I do it, and being with You is the greatest prize.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.
