Walking By Faith
BRD REFLECTIONS:

READ:
John 5:7-9 (ESV)‘The sick man answered him, “Sir, I have no one to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up, and while I am going another step down before me.” Jesus said to him, “Get up, take up your bed, and walk.” And at once the man was healed, and he took up his bed and walked.’
OBSERVE:
What happened?
The man felt helpless and believed that he needed help from others to get healed. Jesus didn’t help the way the man anticipated but He commanded him to act.
How did the man respond?
At first the man focused on his lack of capacity and assistance. But when Jesus told him to get up, he chose to trust and obey, and he was healed as a result.
What’s the main shift?
The man shifted his attention from his shortcomings to acting in faith and trusting Jesus.
APPLY:
I’m reminded of how easily I can get fixated on what I lack – I create mental checklists believing these are the keys to move forward: I must have this or that, or just a clear sign that I’m heading in the right direction.
But here’s what touches my heart: Jesus meets us right there, in our waiting. He doesn’t always change my circumstances, but He changes how I see them. My limitations become invitations to trust Him more deeply.
DO:
In this season of waiting, I hope to grow closer to Jesus, not only as my Savior but as my closest friend. I want to spend more time in His Word, be more honest with Him about my heart, and have greater faith in His promises. I pray for courage to take small steps forward, even though I may not feel fully ready, finding peace in knowing that He walks beside me every step of the way.
PRAY:
Dear Lord,
In this season of waiting, I long to know You more deeply—not just as my Savior, but as my closest friend. Help me open my heart to real, honest conversations with You. Teach me to listen for Your voice and to trust in Your promises as I dive deeper into Your Word.
Give me the courage to take small steps of faith, even when I feel uncertain or unprepared. Remind me that I am never alone, and that You are walking this journey with me. Fill my heart with peace as I trust in Your perfect timing and Your plans.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
