Isaiah 24 and Psalm 119:33-40 (NIV)
(Lim Wee Lee, from Small Group Ministry)
READ:
Isaiah 24 (NIV)
OBSERVE:
God is Holy, and He cannot tolerate sins. Isaiah chapter 24 has the similar prophecy of the end times revealed by John in the book of Revelation. Isaiah wrote about the vision of God’s final judgement for the entire earth and the human race who had defiled the earth and broken the eternal covenant.
God’s judgement is definite. The earth, all nations, regardless of their powers, wealth, status, position and privileges, cannot escape from the terrible destruction of God’s judgement. God’s purpose in the final judgment is not about vengeance or vindictiveness, it is to bring about a glorious new world without sin, eternal life, and a new order. It is God’s kingdom that will last forever after the the final judgment. (16-23).
APPLY:
I have heard about the end times since I was in secondary school. Even modern science and AI are unable to predict when Christ will appear. As I have experienced the grace given to me from God, what should I do before the great tribulation?
Looking at the escalating turmoils in the world, I see the urgency to share Christ with my colleagues. On one occasion, when I had lunch with my colleagues, they were talking about the wars in Gaza and Ukraine and the recent earthquakes in Japan. With the Holy Spirit’s help, I plucked up my courage to ask them why all these catastrophes happened. One of them said that the world is coming to an end. Sensing an opportunity, I gave them a brief account on the fall of Adam in Genesis, and God’s salvation plan. None was curious to know more about God.
Nevertheless, I will continue to be salt and light, ready to share about God’s grace at my workplace when opportunities arise.
DO:
I will
- Exercise spiritual discipline to apply God’s teaching in my daily life. Like the psalmist in 119:34, “Give me understanding, so that I may keep your law and obey it with all my heart.”
- Focus on God’s goodness and live life in the light of Christ. To be obedient and ready anytime, when prompted by the Holy Spirit, to share my faith without any reservation.
PRAY:
Heavenly Father, thank You for Your everlasting mercy each day. Help me to love You more and obey Your living word. Through Your mighty power, establish my faith to continue to sow seeds, even on hard ground. Surrendering the results to God. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
